Biography

Elodie Malbois is a philosopher specializing in biomedical ethics and social cognition. She completed her PhD in 2020 at the University of Fribourg, focusing on the concept of availability in the medical domain. Her doctoral studies included a six-month research stay at the Centre for Clinical Ethics in Paris. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow at the National Centre of Competence in Research Evolving Language, collaborating with Professor Samia Hurst on a transversal taskforce in ethics. Malbois is also involved in a research project examining the use of social robots in medicine, for which she received the Early Postdoc.Mobility grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Her research interests encompass biomedical ethics, the ethics of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics, and the concepts of empathy and altruism in medicine.
