Biography

Professor Olivetti received a Bachelor of Science in engineering science from the University of Virginia in 2000 and a PhD in materials science and engineering from MIT in 2007. During her PhD program, she studied electrochemistry of polymer and inorganic materials as electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. In 2014, she joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering as an assistant professor. As an educator, Olivetti has overhauled DMSE’s undergraduate curriculum and developed new courses, focusing on sustainability and climate change. She is a member of the MIT Climate Nucleus and serves as co-director of the MIT Climate & Sustainability Consortium.
