Elvina Chu graduated from Guy's and St Thomas' Medical Schools, University of London, England. She completed the Maudsley training scheme and gained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2005, subsequently awarded FRCPsych in 2023. Dr. Chu undertook a PhD research fellowship at University College London, Institute of Neurology, focusing on neuropsychiatry. With experience working as a general adult psychiatrist in inner-city London, she developed community neuropsychiatry services and managed in-patient brain injury services and a dementia unit, later becoming the Lead Clinician for the national Huntington's disease service. In addition, she served on the executive committee for the Faculty of Neuropsychiatry at the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK and established the movement disorders working group, collaborating with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence and All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Multiple Sclerosis and Huntington's disease. Dr. Chu relocated to Canada in 2017 and joined Queen's University in 2019. She is currently a staff psychiatrist at KHSC, specializing in consultation liaison psychiatry and neuropsychiatry clinics. An active educator, she launched neuropsychiatry training for residents and lectures in neurosciences at Queen's University. Currently, she is the elected treasurer of the International Neuropsychiatric Association for 2024 and serves as Program Director for a neuropsychiatry fellowship while co-chairing CME programs. Her research group investigates Huntington's disease neurorehabilitation with an emphasis on music-based therapies.
