Biography

Elvis C.S. Chen is an Assistant Professor at Western University, where he works in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Medical Biophysics, and the School of Biomedical Engineering. He received his PhD from the School of Computing at Queen’s University, Canada, in 2007, focusing on joint kinematics modeling. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the Robarts Research Institute in 2009, he took on the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Biophysics. His research interests revolve around the development and validation of AI-enabled tools and workflows that allow surgeons to efficiently utilize medical images, producing sophisticated 3D imaging systems for image-guided surgical interventions. In addition to his research, he serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging and is active in several program committees, including those for the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI), the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) Medical Imaging, and more. Chen also chairs the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society's London Chapter.
