Biography

Elyse Caron-Beaudoin is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Health at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Her research focuses on understanding the impacts of environmental contaminants on public health, particularly through community-based projects. Dr. Caron-Beaudoin has developed significant partnerships with communities to assess the effects of anthropogenic pressures on health and well-being. She obtained her PhD in biology with a specialization in toxicology from the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique – Armand-Frappier Institute in Laval, Quebec. As a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellow, she investigated the associations between the density and proximity of hydraulic fracturing wells and birth outcomes in Northeastern British Columbia. Her current work involves examining gestational exposure to environmental contaminants related to hydraulic fracturing and their endocrine-disrupting potential. Dr. Caron-Beaudoin has also collaborated on research projects addressing environmental health issues in Indigenous communities in the Arctic. Her scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications and she has been recognized with multiple awards for her research excellence.
