Biography

Emad Alsusa received his Ph.D. in Telecommunications from the University of Bath, United Kingdom, in 2000. He was appointed to work on an industrial project at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on the development of high data rate systems. In September 2003, he joined the University of Manchester, where he serves as a Professor of Communications Signal Processing and leads the Microwave Communications Group. His research is centered on advanced communication systems, particularly focusing on the physical, MAC, and network layers. His work involves developing techniques and algorithms for array signal detection, channel estimation, equalization, adaptive signal precoding, and interference management. He has contributed innovative strategies for radio resource management and cognitive radio systems and has applications spanning cellular networks, Internet of Things (IoT), and Powerline Communications. Over his career, he has authored 270 publications in leading IEEE journals and conferences and has successfully supervised more than 30 Ph.D. students. He is also a Senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. His leadership roles include serving as TPC Track Chair for major conferences and representing the UK at the International Union of Radio Science.
