Biography

Emad Tajkhorshid is the Hastings Endowed Chair in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Illinois, with additional appointments in various colleges, including Chemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, and Biophysics. He has been a full-time faculty member at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology since joining the faculty of the Departments of Biochemistry and Pharmacology in 2007. He was fast-tracked to associate professor tenure in 2010 and elevated to full professor in 2013. Tajkhorshid was recognized in 2015 as a University of Illinois Scholar and received the Faculty Excellence Award from the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2016. He leads the NIH Center for Macromolecular Modeling and Bioinformatics, focusing on computational structural biology and molecular biophysics. With over 300 research articles, an H-index of 78, and significant citation volume, his work has appeared in high-impact journals such as Nature and Science. He has delivered over 200 invited lectures worldwide and served on editorial boards for major journals.
