Biography

Emanuela Ceva is a full professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Geneva (UNIGE). She holds a Master's degree in Political Philosophy from York and a PhD in Political Theory from Manchester. From 2005 to 2019, she was a professor at the University of Pavia, with visiting fellowships at notable institutions including the Universities of Oxford, Tokyo, St Andrews, Montreal, Hamburg, Kent, Harvard, and Leuven. In 2018, she was a Fulbright Research Scholar in Philosophy at Harvard University. Her research and teaching focus on philosophy, political theory, and public ethics, and she serves as the Director of the Geneva Research Center for Corruption Studies. Ceva has played a pivotal role in several significant research projects, including Principal Investigator roles in the ERC/SNSF Advanced Grant for corruption studies and the Philosophy of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. Her academic interests encompass theories of justice and democracy, political corruption, public ethics, transitional justice, and the philosophy of political emotions. She has also been involved in various editorial and organizational roles within academic networks.
