Biography

Emil Lupu is a Professor of Computer Systems in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. He leads the Resilient Information Systems Security Group and is a Security Science Fellow at Imperial’s Institute of Security Science and Technology. Lupu is co-director of the National Research Institute Trustworthy Inter-Connected Cyber-Physical Systems (RITICS) and has previously served as the deputy director of the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence in IoT Systems Cybersecurity from 2016 to 2021. His research focuses on various aspects of computer security, network, and systems management, as well as IoT systems software engineering. Lupu has published over 200 papers covering topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. His work on malicious data injection has led to the development of novel anomaly detection algorithms, and he has explored the vulnerabilities of machine learning models to structured noise and adversarial attacks. Lupu's research also extends to the creation of frameworks for resilience in cyber-physical systems and methodologies that integrate security and safety concerns.
