Biography

Emilee Hendricks is a graduate student in the Master of Science program in Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A lifelong Wisconsinite, Emilee's academic journey began at Madison Area Technical College before transferring to UW–Madison during the COVID-19 pandemic. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Geography, along with a certificate in Folklore. Emilee joined Schools of Hope, an AmeriCorps program that provides literacy tutoring to elementary school students in the Madison area. Her research interests focus on social change within education-based spaces, particularly in public schools and public library settings. Most recently, her research has explored Queer Literacies and the censorship of LGBTQ+ content in libraries. Emilee is enthusiastic about advocating for inclusive educational environments and promoting accessibility to diverse literature.
