Dr. Emilio Ferrara

Biography

Emilio Ferrara is a Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California, where he serves as the Associate Chair. He is also the inaugural Director of the Interdisciplinary Data Science Program within the USC School of Advanced Computing, and holds joint appointments in the Communication and Preventive Medicine departments. He is a Principal Scientist at the Information Sciences Institute, where he directs the USC-ISI Machine Intelligence Data Science (MINDS) center and the PhD program in Computer Science. Ferrara's research focuses on artificial intelligence, data network science, and the impact of technology on human behavior and social systems. He has published over 200 articles in leading scientific venues, with significant work in social networks, machine learning, and network science. His contributions have been acknowledged by major media outlets, and he has received multiple awards including the IBM Watson Big Data Influencer title, DARPA Young Faculty Award, and the Rising Star Science award from Research.com. His work has garnered over $20 million in funding from various prestigious organizations.
