Emily Eastgate Brink received her PhD from Stanford University and is currently an Associate Professor in Art History at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Her research primarily explores systems of knowledge related to visual expression in the nineteenth century, focusing on European engagement with Asian 'otherness' and visual material exchange. Emily is committed to fostering critical observation skills in her students, emphasizing the importance of materiality in their understanding of art. She supervises MA and PhD candidates on issues pertaining to visual expression.
