Biography

Emily Fawcett is an Associate Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where she serves in the Psychology Department. With a clinical background, she completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology at Acadia University, followed by a Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Lakehead University. Emily is a registered psychologist with a primary theoretical orientation in Cognitive-Behavioural therapy. She has extensive experience in supervising psychology residents and conducting psychotherapy training for psychiatry residents at Memorial University's Student Wellness Counselling Centre. Her primary research interests include anxiety-related disorders, women's health, and clinical epidemiology. Recently, she has focused on understanding the stigma, identification, and prevalence of lesser-known subtypes of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and she has collaborated on various meta-analyses pertaining to these subjects. Emily is looking forward to her official role in the Psychology Department starting September 2023.
