Biography

As a reproductive biologist, Dr. Emily Frost works on understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning female fertility. Her current research focuses on identifying factors that support oocyte development in the ovary and utilizing these factors to improve oocyte culture. This work involves a thorough understanding of granulosa cell biology and the interaction of somatic cells with oocyte development. Dr. Frost employs a combination of high-throughput techniques, proteomics, and single-cell sequencing, alongside molecular biology techniques to delve into oocyte development. Prior to her role at UNSW, she completed a joint PhD at the University of Newcastle and the Francis Crick Institute in the UK, where she studied the role of cell cycle regulation in the activation of ovarian follicles. Dr. Frost has also worked as a postdoctoral scientist at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne, focusing on the role of transcription factors in driving testicular and ovarian fate under the guidance of Prof. Vincent Harley.
