Biography

Emily J. Hogg is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, specializing in contemporary anglophone literature's connections to socio-political issues. With an academic background that includes a PhD from Queen Mary University of London, her research primarily focuses on literary approaches to class, labor, and gender dynamics. Hogg has received funding from the Carlsberg Foundation for her PI project, "Feminized: New Literary History of Women's Work," which investigates the archive of literary representations of women's work in the context of the modern labor market. Her findings are set to be published in the upcoming collection "Feminized Work and Labor Literature" by Edinburgh University Press in 2025. In addition, she co-edited the volume "Precarity in Contemporary Literature and Culture" and has a forthcoming monograph on precarity in contemporary British and Irish literature. Hogg is currently exploring mindfulness in literature and is involved in developing new pedagogical approaches in the English program at SDU, with a forthcoming textbook scheduled for Routledge in 2027. She continues to engage with literary discourse in the context of human rights, highlighting the complex intersections of these fields in her teaching and research.
