Dr. Emily Lu

Biography

Emily Lu is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Periodontology at King's College London, specializing in the clinical and research aspects of periodontal disease. She completed her specialist training in Periodontology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and earned a Master's in Clinical Dentistry and a PhD in Periodontology from King's College London. Her research focuses on the pathogenesis of periodontitis, novel therapeutics, and periodontal regeneration. Dr. Lu's work has garnered multiple prestigious research awards and her findings have been published both nationally and internationally in peer-reviewed journals. Her current research interests include the role of biomarkers, such as Vitamin D, in periodontal disease, the microbiome’s interactions with systemic health, and the development of innovative treatments for periodontal conditions. Moreover, she has contributed to systematic reviews and clinical guidelines aimed at improving the efficacy of periodontal therapies, and has taken part in longitudinal studies assessing peri-implant microbiomes. Dr. Lu is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is committed to advancing dental education and research in her field.
