Biography

Emily Cleveland Manchanda, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Emergency Medicine. She is also the Program Co-Director of the Ravin Davidoff Executive Fellowship in Health Equity at Boston Medical Center, where she is involved in the Emergency Department. Dr. Manchanda leads the education portfolio at the American Medical Association's Center for Optimal Health Outcomes, focusing on social justice in medical education. She obtained her MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and her MPH from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at a Harvard-Affiliated program, serving as chief resident. Dr. Manchanda’s work includes developing health equity curriculums and conducting research to identify and address the impacts of racism and ableism in clinical care. As a member of the Disability Inclusion Vertical Integration Group (VIG) at BU, she supports efforts to confront ableism in the medical school curriculum. Her dedication to advancing health equity is driven by her personal experiences as a mother of a biracial, neurodivergent child with physical disabilities. Dr. Manchanda is deeply committed to embedding racial justice and advancing health equity within medical education and healthcare systems.
