Biography

Emily Martin, born in Bruce County, Ontario, spent her childhood on a family beef and hog farm. After completing her high school education in Kitchener, she graduated with a DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) and subsequently enrolled in the MSc program in the Department of Pathobiology at OVC, under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Hunter. Her MSc project focused on 'E. coli in tom turkeys from the environment'. After completing her MSc, Emily was accepted as an Avian and Fur-bearing Pathologist at the Animal Health Laboratory, where she has worked since 2000. During her time in the lab, she successfully obtained board certification from the American College of Poultry Veterinarians. Emily provides veterinary diagnostic and consultative services to the poultry industry and other agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. She collaborates with faculty at the University of Guelph in support of teaching and research, contributing to advancements in veterinary medicine and health research.
