Biography

Emily Musing is an Associate Professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, and a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation (IHPME). Before retirement, she served as Chief Patient Safety Officer at the University Health Network (UHN), leading initiatives in Clinical Pharmacy, Infection Prevention and Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Patient Safety, and contributing to UHN's COVID-19 Vaccine Strategy. As the inaugural Leader-in-Residence for the 2022-23 academic year, Emily developed a Leadership Intensive for third-year pharmacy students. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto and completed her post-graduate Hospital Pharmacy Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. She obtained her Master of Health Science in Health Administration from IHPME in 2003. Her previous roles include President of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists, Chief Administrator of the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada's Objective Structured Clinical Examination assessor, and Vice Chair of the Death Investigation Oversight Council. Emily has served on numerous boards, including the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada and the Canadian Patient Safety Institute.
