Biography

Emily Pomeranz is an assistant professor with expertise in human dimensions of wildlife management. She utilizes both quantitative and qualitative social science approaches to understand the relationship between people, wildlife, and conservation. Her research interests encompass public participation in wildlife conservation decision-making, as well as stakeholder beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors related to wildlife management. Emily aims to enhance public trust in resource management and promote good governance through community-based natural resource management. She conducts applied research and engages in outreach activities that provide new sources of knowledge, acknowledging the real experiences and limitations faced by professionals in the field. Collaborating closely with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife Division, Emily's role supports the Partnership for Ecosystem Research & Management. Before joining Michigan State University (MSU), she served as a human dimensions research specialist with the Michigan DNR Wildlife Division.
