Emily Porter is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. She joined Texas ECE after serving as an EU Marie-Curie Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer at the Translational Medical Device Laboratory, National University of Ireland Galway. Dr. Porter earned her B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, in 2009, 2010, and 2015, respectively. She is the recipient of several prestigious national and international awards, including multiple URSI Young Scientist Awards, the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Doctoral Research Award, the Irish Research Council “New Foundations” Grant, and the Royal Irish Academy Charlemont Grant. Her research focuses on bioelectrical engineering, with significant contributions in measurement of dielectric properties of biological tissues, development of novel technologies for therapeutic and diagnostic applications involving electromagnetic waves, as well as advancements in biomedical devices and instrumentation, medical imaging, and biomedical informatics.
