Biography

Professor of International Economic Law and Sustainable Development at Southampton Law School, University of Southampton. Emily Reid completed her LLB at the University of Edinburgh followed by an LLM in International and European Legal Studies at the University of Durham. She has past experience as a Research Assistant at the Durham European Law Institute and was awarded a Faculty Studentship to pursue her doctoral research at the University of Southampton. Her academic career includes time as a Lecturer in EU Law at the University of Sussex before returning to Southampton, where she was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2012 and Chair in 2017. Emily has focused her teaching on areas including EU Law, Public Law, WTO Law, and Globalisation Law at both the University of Sussex and Southampton. She has taken on various leadership roles, including Associate Dean for Education and Student Experience and acting Head of Southampton Law School. Currently, she is the Director of the Centre for International Law and Globalisation, and recently appointed Chair of the UK Trade Sustainable Development Domestic Advisory Group, which advises on the implementation of sustainable development within trade agreements with non-EU states.
