Emily Ann Sprague-Klein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Brown University. Originally from the St. Louis metropolitan area, she developed a keen interest in STEM, which led her to pursue a degree in physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a research assistant at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Emily graduated in 2012 with a B.S. in Engineering Physics, minoring in mathematics, and also completing a dual degree in music. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Northwestern University in 2018 under the supervision of the late Richard Van Duyne. Her research interests include light-driven redox reactions and surface chemistry. As a postdoctoral associate at Argonne National Laboratory, Emily focused on solar energy conversion and advanced soft plasmonic nanomaterials. Currently, she leads a research group focused on surface-sensitive spectroscopy and the elucidation of photophysical and photochemical reaction dynamics to address challenges in renewable energy and public health.
