Biography

Emily Regan Wills is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa, specializing in transnationalism and everyday politics. Her research interests focus on the transnational practices of diaspora engagement in Palestinian civil society, particularly in the context of LGBTQ+ refugee resettlement in Canada. Wills has conducted significant work in establishing forms of solidarity between refugee sponsors and sponsored refugees, addressing lines of difference. In 2015, she co-directed the Community Mobilization Crisis project, which develops multilingual digital open educational resources based on global case studies intended for community mobilizers supporting marginalized populations. Wills has worked with various mobilizers across Canada, Lebanon, Palestine, Brazil, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and is currently engaged in research and projects in Niger and Zimbabwe. Born and raised in the United States, she has been actively involved in feminist, queer, and anti-war social movements and holds degrees from Yale University and the New School for Social Research.
