Biography

Emily Woodhouse's research sits at the intersection of environmental anthropology and conservation science, examining the social dimensions and impacts of biodiversity conservation and development interventions. She gained her PhD from Imperial College London in the Conservation Science Group in 2012 and was co-supervised by the Anthropology department of the University of Aberdeen. Following her doctoral studies, she became a post-doctoral researcher at University College London (UCL), working on an ESRC-DFID funded project that aimed to improve approaches for understanding the impacts of conservation on the wellbeing of local communities. Her collaborations include work with the Wildlife Conservation Society and Imperial College. Emily joined UCL as a Lecturer in Anthropology in 2015 and is a member of the Human Ecology Research Group, where she convenes the MSc programme in Environmental Anthropology.
