Dr. Emma Aisbett

Biography

Emma Aisbett is an Associate Professor at the Australian National University School of Law and serves as Associate Director (Research) for the Zero-Carbon Energy Asia-Pacific initiative. She holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Emma's research focuses on economic globalization, environmental policy, and political economy, particularly in developing countries. She has made significant contributions to the discourse on international investment agreements and is recognized for her work, receiving the John Jackson Prize for advancing understanding in international economic law. Emma has been invited as an expert by organizations such as the OECD and the United Nations Commission on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Her current research interests are centered around trade-related climate policy and International Green Industrial Policy, with an emphasis on embedded emissions accounting frameworks and international collaborations in the green economy. In her research endeavors, Emma employs a transdisciplinary approach, collaborating with the Australian Government, industry, and international organizations like the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
