Biography

Dr. Börgeson earned her PhD in Medicine from University College Dublin and was a Marie Curie Fellow at University of California San Diego, where she studied pro-resolving compounds related to diabetes. In 2017, she established her lab at the University of Gothenburg, focusing on cardiometabolic disease and inflammatory resolution, and in 2022, she became a tenured Associate Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark. Her translational lab is located at the Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus within the Department of Biomedicine. Dr. Börgeson has established numerous international collaborations with research groups in the USA, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, and Germany, resulting in peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Cell Metabolism and Diabetologia. She is passionate about inspiring students through research-led teaching and is involved in various medical degree programs within the Department of Biomedicine, teaching courses on physiological principles and clinical assessments, along with leading PhD-level courses. Additionally, she supervises PhD and medical students and contributes to research on PhD education amidst challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
