Biography

Emma Brooks is a lecturer at University College London, specializing in Intercultural Communication within the Institute of Education. Her research interests focus on translanguaging, intercultural professional communication, health communication, and the complexities of superdiversity, specifically the dominance of English as a global language. She has a particular focus on linguistic ethnography and the role of language in facilitating (in)equalities. With an academic background in both a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts, Brooks has extensive teaching experience in language learning and intercultural communication. She has been an active participant in outreach and community engagement, serving as a speaker and panellist at various conferences, as well as engaging in collaborative projects and journal reviews. Since February 2, 2019, she has held her current position at UCL.
