Dr. Emma Chamberlain

Biography

Emma Chamberlain, OBE, is a distinguished scholar and barrister affiliated with Pump Court Tax Chambers. With a background in tax law, she serves as a Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Tax Adviser and holds a Master's degree from Oxford. Chamberlain has been actively involved in the GAAR Advisory Board and served on the Consultative Committee for Inheritance Tax simplification. Her contributions to the field of taxation include co-authoring significant works on trust taxation and estate planning, as well as participating in the Wealth Tax Commission, which produced a report on wealth taxation in December 2020. She is recognized for her advisory roles within HM Treasury and HMRC, specifically on issues concerning foreign domiciliaries, trusts, and residential property tax legislation. Additionally, she contributes to various academic and professional publications, including the British Tax Review and the Dynamics of Taxation 2020. Emma's expertise in tax law has also made her a featured commentator on BBC Radio 4. Her extensive experience and research contributions position her as a leading authority in tax law and policy.
