Biography

Emma joined the Department of Geography at King’s College London as a Lecturer in January 2024. She previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of International & Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma and taught part-time in the Geography Department at Dartmouth College. Emma received her PhD in Geography from UCLA in 2018, and holds a BA in Geography from University College London (2012) and an MA in Cities from King's College London (2013). Her research focuses on themes of flood risk, climate adaptation, environmental expertise, and climate financial risk, particularly in urban contexts. Emma's work has been published in notable journals, including the Annals of the American Association of Geographers and Environment and Planning. Currently, she is a co-principal investigator on a British Academy funded project aimed at developing a Decision Support System for communities in flood-prone areas of Jakarta. Emma is open to discussing potential PhD topics and funding avenues for prospective students.
