Biography

Emma Galvin is an Early Career Research Fellow at the Health Social Care Unit of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. She completed her PhD in 2022 at Monash University, Australia, focusing on trauma-informed approaches to care and sustainable practices to support staff working with young people in large community service organizations and residential out-of-home care (OoHC). Emma is passionate about research in trauma-informed care, social care, qualitative research, and implementation science. She collaborates with community service organizations and state governments to engage vulnerable children, young people, and families, aiming to improve organizational culture and enhance the health and well-being of young people in care. Emma's research includes the implementation and evaluation of the Sanctuary Model in the out-of-home care sector in South Australia, funded by the South Australian Department for Child Protection. Additionally, she serves as a Project Manager for HEALing Matters, a project partnering with various health and child welfare departments to provide training for residential care staff on trauma-informed practices.
