Biography

Emma Gibson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in the School of Chemistry. Her research focuses on the application of synchrotron techniques and vibrational spectroscopy to study heterogeneous catalysts and their reactions. Gibson is particularly interested in developing combined techniques, performing X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) and Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (DRIFTS) studies simultaneously to investigate solid-gas phase reactions. She aims to extend her research to 3-phase catalytic reactions and is actively commissioning an attenuated total reflection (ATR-FTIR) setup in Glasgow to develop capabilities compatible with X-ray techniques.
