Biography

Emma Maund is a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, specializing in evidence synthesis and health technology assessment. Her research primarily focuses on risk bias in clinical trials. Emma began her role at SHTAC in August 2021, where she actively contributes to the production of health technology assessment reports for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), including single technology appraisals (STAs) and diagnostic technology appraisals (DARs). Prior to her fellowship, she worked at the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) and the Nordic Cochrane Centre. Emma has a strong background in using clinical study reports as a data source for systematic reviews, addressing dissemination bias and poor reporting in clinical trials. She has completed her PhD and is currently involved in various evidence synthesis projects that inform the development of complex health interventions within the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education at the University of Southampton. Additionally, Emma contributes to teaching introductory training on systematic review methods organized by SHTAC.
