Biography

Professor Emma McIntosh is the Director of the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) at the University of Glasgow, where she also serves as the Deputy Head of the School of Health and Wellbeing. Since joining HEHTA in 2011, she has led the Economics of Population Health program. Emma holds an MSc in Health Economics from the University of York and a PhD in Economics from the University of Aberdeen. Her methodological interests include economic evaluation and evaluating public health interventions, stated preference methods, and cost-benefit analysis. Emma has applied these methods across a diverse range of research grants focusing on multiple diseases and health issues internationally, particularly in global health research in Africa and South Asia. She is the lead author of 'Applied Methods for Cost-Benefit Analysis in Health Care', and has contributed to publications in the Oxford University Press's Health Economic Evaluation series. Previously, she held academic positions at the University of Oxford, University of Aberdeen, and University of Kent. Emma welcomes inquiries from potential PhD students who are interested in health economics and economic evaluation.
