Biography

Emma Peters is an Education Focused Lecturer and PhD candidate at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), within the School of Art and Design. Her research focuses on exploring circular design pathways in textiles, operating at the nexus of industry and academia. Emma utilizes practice-led research design methods to generate new opportunities within the sector of discarded interior textiles. This work aims to progress economic benefits and contribute to circular economy systems, particularly in the bedlinen industry in Australia. In addition to her academic pursuits, she has experience as a commercial textile designer, having collaborated with some of Australia’s leading homeware brands. Emma holds a Master of Design and has published research and exhibited as a solo artist. She is also a founding member of DesignForCE, a UNSW research group.
