Biography

Emma Poole received her PhD from Cambridge University in the Department of Pathology, focusing on protein-protein interactions of the Influenza virus polymerase. She furthered her studies at St George’s Hospital Medical School, where she researched immune evasion mechanisms in paramyxoviruses. Upon returning to Cambridge University, Poole worked in the Department of Medicine, specifically on Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV). As a Senior Research Associate, her research concentrated on the molecular mechanisms of HCMV latency. In 2023, she was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge, within the Department of Pathology, where she continues her studies on HCMV latency with the goal of developing novel therapeutics.
