Biography

Emma Schultz is a Professor of Finance at the Australian National University, where she also served as Associate Dean (Research) within the ANU College of Business and Economics. With a strong history in university leadership and service, she provides long-term, strategic research direction and advocacy support for academics and higher degree research students. Emma's research focuses on issues in corporate finance, specifically capital structure, corporate governance, dividend policy, and financial governance literacy. Her work has been featured in top domestic and international journals and has enabled her to secure competitive funding through the Australian Research Council’s Discovery Projects and Linkage Projects schemes. In addition to her research contributions, Emma has designed and delivered a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has supervised more than 20 Honours and PhD students in their completion of research-based dissertations. Before joining academia, Emma gained experience in investment banking and audit advisory services.
