Biography

Emmanuel Roumanis specializes in the development of Koine Greek during the Postclassical and Medieval periods, with a particular focus on metalexicography of Greek Latin-Greek lexica. His research interests include the development of glossaries for early printed dictionaries and the opposition of lexical change to concepts of linguistic purity within pre-modern to modern contexts, exploring influences from Atticism in Greek to Modern Greek. Routinely, Roumanis analyzes the ways in which these processes have shaped the linguistic choices of writers in non-literary documents, especially in the absence of a clearly defined standard for the Greek language. His active engagements in research and numerous publications contribute to a unique fingerprint in academic discourse.
