Biography

Dr. Emre Erkmen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering at Concordia University. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1999, followed by a Master's degree in Structural Engineering in 2001 from Istanbul Technical University. He completed his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering in 2006 at the University of Ottawa. His early career included a position as a Research Associate from 2007 to 2010 at the University of New South Wales, after which he lectured at the University of Technology Sydney until 2018. Since joining Concordia University in 2019, Dr. Erkmen has focused on computational mechanics, developing efficient and accurate numerical methods to predict structural behavior under various conditions including large deformations and time-dependent nonlinear material behavior. His significant research contributions address topics such as Nonlinear Structural Mechanics, Multi-scale Analysis, and the behavior of Thin-walled Composite Structures, among others.
