Dr. Ena Lloret Fritschi

Biography

Ena Lloret-Fritschi is an experienced architect specializing in digital concrete and leads the research group Accademia di Architettura at Università della Svizzera italiana. Her research focuses on Fabrication-Material-Aware Architecture (FMAA), which explores the architectural design potential of earth-based concrete materials combined with digital technologies. Ena strives to develop a holistic design methodology that considers material and structural constraints influencing novel architectural designs, aiming to create sustainable structures through regenerative practices. Prior to joining USI, she held a postdoctoral position in Digital Fabrication at ETH Zurich and was involved in research groups such as Gramazio Kohler Research. She obtained her PhD from ETH Zurich's Department of Architecture, where her thesis on digital fabrication of non-standard concrete structures was recognized. With years of professional experience in notable architecture firms, she combines practical and research insights to advance the field. Currently, Ena is leading various projects and seeks to establish a foundation for future professorship while investigating sustainable construction using innovative technologies.
