Biography

Eng Chua obtained his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Western Australia in 2011, completing a research project that characterized the functional roles of autotransporter proteins in the pathogenesis of Shigella flexneri. Afterward, he worked on Burkholderia pseudomallei at the University of Malaya before joining Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall’s research group to study Helicobacter pylori. Dr. Chua possesses a broad range of molecular microbiology skills and has substantial experience as a bioinformatician, handling and analyzing datasets in genomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics.
