Biography

Enrico Biffis is a Professor of Actuarial Finance at the Imperial Business School, where he also serves as the Academic Director of the Centre for Climate Finance and Investment. His expertise lies in risk analysis and asset-liability management, with a focus on applications in insurance and investment management sectors. Biffis has designed predictive analytics tools for risk management across a variety of asset classes and has collaborated extensively with leading financial institutions, regulators, and both governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. He has received numerous grants and awards for his research in modeling and managing complex risks. Before joining Imperial, Biffis was a tenured faculty member at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and served as an editor of the ASTIN Bulletin – Journal of the International Actuarial Association. He was also the Associate Director of Development Finance at the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis and co-director of the Sustainable Tech Lab at Imperial-X. His research on parametric insurance for financial inclusion earned him the 2023 SCOR/EGRIE Paper Award, and he was also recognized with the 2022 FT Responsible Business Education Research Award.
