Biography

Eoin Price is a Lecturer in English Literature at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in the period of 1500-1650. He holds a BA and MA from the University of Liverpool and completed his PhD at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon. With a background in early modern drama, Price's work explores the practices of playgoing in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, focusing particularly on the temporal aspects of early modern literary and theatrical canons. His research has garnered significant funding, including a Leverhulme Research Fellowship, and he has held library fellowships at the Harry Ransom Center and Huntington Library to support his archival research and performance history studies. Price's publications include the book '‘Public’ ‘Private’ Playhouses in Renaissance England' and numerous articles addressing early modern theatre history. He has co-edited works for the journal Shakespeare and is currently involved in a book project, 'Playgoing Time in Elizabethan London,' which examines foundational claims about the temporality of drama. Beyond his research, Price is committed to teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a keen interest in public engagement with literature and theatre.
