Biography

Eran Egozy is a Professor of Practice in Music Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a co-founder and chief technical officer of Harmonix Music Systems, where he developed the highly successful video game franchises Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which have sold over 35 million units worldwide and generated over $1 billion in annual sales. An accomplished clarinetist, Eran has performed with the MIT Symphony Orchestra and the Radius Ensemble, which was named Boston’s Classical Ensemble in 2016. His teaching focuses on interactive music systems and multimodal musical expression, and he is the founding director of the Music Technology and Computation Graduate Program at MIT. Eran's research interests include music information retrieval and audience engagement through technology. His recent projects involve innovative audience-participation works such as *12*, which allows audience members to interact musically with performers using mobile devices, and ConcertCue, a program-note streaming app designed for live classical music concerts. ConcertCue has been featured in concerts with major ensembles like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and received a grant from the Knight Foundation.
