Biography

Erez Yoeli is a research scientist at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, where he directs the Applied Cooperation Initiative. His research emphasizes understanding altruism and promoting collaborative efforts among governments, nonprofits, and companies to tackle significant challenges, such as energy conservation, antibiotic adherence, smoking regulations in public spaces, and philanthropy encouragement. Erez is a co-author of 'Hidden Games,' derived from his undergraduate course in Game Theory which he co-teaches at Harvard. He regularly publishes theoretical and applied academic research articles and shares insights through public talks, including a TEDxCambridge event that garnered over a million views. His work has been featured internationally in numerous publications such as TIME, Huffington Post, and Quartz. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and has served as an economist for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, where he acted as an expert witness in cases involving consumer fraud. Prior to his career in economics, he was a classical percussionist and enjoys spicy food, hiking, and spending time with his cats.
