Biography

Eric Bartelsman is a Full Professor of Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his PhD from Columbia University. Since 2000, he has held a position at VU, previously serving as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C., and as an advisor to the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB). He has also held positions such as Head of Economic Research at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands and served as a member of the Netherlands Council of Economic Advisors from 2007 to 2008. His research interests encompass productivity growth and firm dynamics from both micro and macro perspectives, and he has published extensively in leading academic journals. Bartelsman is also a Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute and has participated in various ancillary activities and consultancies.
