Eric P. Bennett obtained his master's degree in Biochemistry Molecular Biology and doctoral degree (Dr. Med) from the University of Copenhagen. He has focused his research efforts at the Copenhagen Center for Glycomics, specializing in Glycobiology. Over two decades, Bennett has cloned and identified more than 30 human glycosyltransferase encoding genes, referred to as glycogenes. His recent research has concentrated on establishing precision-engineered isogenic cells lacking individual glycogenes, employing advanced nuclease targeting technologies, including ZFN, TALEN, and CRISPR/Cas9. His methodologies have shown significant translational potential in the biotechnology therapeutic genome targeting space. In addition to his research, he has chaired various committees and has been actively involved in academia, guiding numerous students and contributing to conferences and symposiums on genome editing and CRISPR related topics. Bennett has also co-founded several companies focused on biotechnology and glycoengineering, showcasing his commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and applications in the field.
