Dr. Eric Buxton

Biography

Eric C Buxton is the Division Chair and Clinical Professor at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin, specializing in the Applied Drug Development program. His primary responsibilities include the development, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education offerings for individuals within the pharmaceutical industry in the United States. His graduate research focused on automation in DNA sequencing technologies. Following his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1996, he worked at Lexicon Genetics in Woodlands, Texas, where he automated high-throughput RNA isolation from mouse embryonic stem cells. As the company shifted its focus to knock-out mice for drug discovery and development, Eric transitioned to managing a high-throughput screening laboratory's informatics, acting as the chief liaison between chemists and biologists, and leading a multi-disciplinary team to implement a software system capable of capturing and analyzing data generated during the drug discovery process.
