Biography

Professor Eric Darve's research interests encompass a variety of advanced topics in mechanical engineering and applied mathematics, including machine learning, particularly in the areas of large-language models and transformer models. He is also focused on surrogate reduced order modeling, stochastic inversing, and anomaly detection. His expertise extends into numerical linear algebra and high-performance computing, with a special emphasis on parallel and GPU computing. Professor Darve obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Jacques-Louis Lions Laboratory at Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris, France, where his thesis focused on 'Fast Multipole Methods for Integral Equations in Acoustics and Electromagnetics.' Prior to his current role, he was a postdoctoral scholar under the guidance of Professors Moin Pohorille at Stanford and at NASA Ames. He joined the faculty at Stanford University in 2001 and has been a member of the Institute for Computational Mathematical Engineering.
