Biography

Eric Deleersnijder holds a degree in electrical mechanical engineering and a doctorate in applied sciences in mechanics. His research interests are focused on modeling the hydrosphere, including lakes, rivers, estuaries, coastal regions, and shelf seas of the World Ocean. He has co-authored 190 peer-reviewed publications and guest-edited books and special issues in scientific journals, as well as organized international conference sessions and workshops. He has held teaching and research positions both in Belgium and abroad, currently serving as a professor at Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium). He also lectures on various aspects of mechanics and is an honorary researcher at the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research (FRS-FNRS). In 2014, he accepted a five-year, part-time professorship in applied mathematics at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
